How to cook Cheesy Garlic Butter Boneless Bangus 

🐟 Cheesy Garlic Butter Bangus Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (quickmelt or cheddar; mozzarella optional for stretch)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for creaminess)
  • 1 tbsp calamansi juice or lemon juice or sprite
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley or spring onions (optional, for garnish)

🔪 Instructions:
  • Clean and butterfly the bangus (or ask the vendor to do it for you).
  • Pat dry with paper towels.
  • Rub the inside with calamansi juice, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for 15–30 minutes.
  • In a pan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden.
  • Turn off the heat and let it cool a bit.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) or prepare a grill/pan.
  • Place the bangus on a baking tray or foil, skin side down.
  • Spread the garlic butter generously over the meat side.
  • Mix mayonnaise (if using) with cheese and spread on top of the fish.
  • Add a final layer of grated cheese.
  • Oven method: Bake for 20–25 minutes or until fish is cooked and cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  • Grill method: Cover with foil and grill over medium heat for 15–20 minutes.
  • Stovetop method: Place in a covered pan over low heat until cooked and cheese melts.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley or spring onions.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice!
